Student Leaders Advocating for Mental Health (SLAM)

Mission Statement:

The purpose of Student Leaders Advocating for Mental health (SLAM) is to give students with interests in mental health practice the opportunity to voice their opinion in bringing professionals from the field in for  discussions and presentations fostering engaged and informed individuals. It will also lend itself as a source of knowledge and
information for students in regards to courses, careers, and outlets for interdisciplinary interactions within the University and in the greater community.

Brief Description:

SLAM is a student run organization, chaired by the head of the Mental Health Concentration, with a focus on developing Brown Bag lunch presentations that interest students and lend some depth to the field.  SLAM will elicit student input in order to provide presentations in the areas most interesting to students.

SLAM will also help students by providing information regarding the concentration and possible careers while giving an opportunity for students to learn about other fields at the University that coincide with mental health. The hope is students will gain a greater appreciation for the field of mental health and a desire to actively participate in the community with the knowledge gained.
