Pickup Anywhere is a service offered by
OhioLINK that gives
us more control of the items we request through the
OhioLINK Library Catalog. Pickup Anywhere allows you to
request materials to be delivered to any participating academic library in Ohio. For example, if
you are an MSASS Intensive Weekend student but you live in Akron, you can request a book be
delivered directly to the University of Akron. Or maybe you are in Toledo and wish to have your
books sent to the University of Toledo. Pickup Anywhere gives you the opportunity to pick up items
at a more convenient location.
The main difference of this service is that you can modify the "Pickup Institution" (university
or college) when placing your request. Please note that not every pickup location at an OhioLINK
institution has been designated for pickup anywhere.
***Note: Users should "
view your
library record" to see if the item requested through Pickup Anywhere was received at the
selected pickup location. The Pickup Site does not need to notify the user for any Pickup Anywhere
items.
In addition, if the item you wish to request is available here at Case you might run into a
problem even if you wish to pick it up elsewhere in the state. You will get a message that says
"You cannot use OhioLINK to request items that are available at your institution." If you intend to
pick it up elsewhere in the state, please call the Harris Library Circulation Desk (216-368-2302)
for assistance.
How it works
Pickup Anywhere works similarly to the old method of requesting items via OhioLINK. Once you
have selected an item that you wish to request through OhioLINK, follow these steps:
1. After clicking on the "Request an Item" link, select the MSASS Harris
Library.
If the book is available at the Harris Library, you will get a message that says "You cannot use
OhioLINK to request items that are available at your institution." If you intend to pick it up
elsewhere in the state, please call the Harris Library Circulation Desk (216-368-2302) for
assistance.
2. Enter your name and University ID in the boxes provided. You will also notice
that you can change the Pickup Institution. This is the name of the college or university where you
will be picking up your OhioLINK item. It will default to Case.
3. If you want to pick up this item at another OhioLINK Library, change the
"Pickup Institution." When you do that, the associated "Pickup Location" options will change
accordingly to the ones on that campus that are participating in this program.
4. When you click on the "Submit above information," you will get a confirmation
message that includes the first part of the title, the library that will be supplying the item, and
where it will be delivered for you to pick up.
5. When looking at your library circulation record to view the
status of the
request, you will see that it includes information on the "Pickup Location." If you are picking
it up here at Case, it will display only those location names. If you are picking it up at a
location other than Case, it will include the college or university name and the specific pickup
location on that campus.
If you have any questions about this service, please call the Harris Library Circulation
Desk at (216) 368-2302.
