General Databases
Some databases are general in nature. They do not focus on one particular subject or discipline. These resources are useful when you are trying to obtain background information on a topic, when you want popular viewpoints on a subject, or when the nature of your inquiry is inter-disciplinary in nature. Below are brief summaries of some of the general databases available to Case affiliates.
All of the following databases are available through the Case Research Databases section of the Library Catalog.
Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe:
This database is an abbreviated version of the full legal database by the same name. General News Topics, General Health and Medical News, and Hot News Items will lead you to the full text of short articles on current topics. It is available through OhioLINK and has its own interface. Uses the “!” for truncation.
Social Sciences Index:
Indexes articles from a broad range of social sciences journals that are at least one column in length. Coverage includes a wide range of interdisciplinary fields. This database is available through Case only and uses the Web of Science interface. Uses the “*” for truncation.
