Early Intervention Graduate Training Program

The Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, is pleased to announce the Early Intervention Graduate Training Program. This 12 month training program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education programs. It is designed for Case graduate students from three disciplines who are interested in pursuing careers related to early intervention.

To be eligible for this program students must be enrolled on a full-time basis in one of the following Case graduate programs:

This training program begins in June each year and is completed at the end of the spring semester of the following year.

During the summer months trainees receive a monthly stipend and full tuition support. During the academic year students receive one-half tuition support.

This practice-based program provides in-depth experiences in the most up-to-date procedures for providing intervention services to young children with developmental problems and their families. Students learn state of the art early intervention theory and practice including:

  • Developmental/Relationship-Focused Intervention
  • Play-Based Developmental Assessment
  • Individualized Family Service Plans
  • Parent Education
  • Family Support
  • Service Coordination
  • Interdisciplinary Teaming

Training is provided through 12 hours of coursework including:

  • Infant Toddler Development (Summer);
  • Birth to Three Assessment and Intervention (Summer);
  • Medical Aspects of Disabilities (Fall);
  • Family and Professional Collaboration;
  • Supervised Early Intervention Practical Training

This training program meets all requirements for the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation/ Developmental Disabilities Early Intervention certificate.
