Leadership Training in Early Intervention and Adoption/Foster Care
CICF
sponsors a small group of doctoral students who have career interests in early intervention or
adoption/foster. This intensive, research based, doctoral training specialty area is designed to
promote
the competencies necessary to obtain leadership positions in higher
education, research or educational/social service agencies.
CICF doctoral trainees receive intensive academic, clinical and
research training to prepare for leadership roles. They receive tuition and stipend support for the
three years required to complete their degrees. CICF faculty who have expertise in early
intervention or
adoption/foster care mentor trainees by supervising their
individualized plan of studies, providing relevant clinical training and college teaching
opportunities, and involving them in research projects related to these specialty areas.
In
addition to the regular required coursework for the MSASS doctoral degree in Social Welfare, CICF
trainees complete 12 semester hours of specialized coursework related to early intervention or
adoption/foster care. They also teach masters' degree courses and supervise field based training in
their specialty areas.
