My name is Nicky Stewart and I am a second year student at MSASS.
Originally fromSt. Paul, MN, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
from Washington University in St. Louis in May, 2003. I majored in Organization and Human
Resource Management, with a minor in psychology. During my undergraduate career, I worked as a
summer pre-school teacher and as a tutor for local public schools. After graduation from Washington
University, I worked for a year as a Family Support Worker in Kansas City, KS . In this position, I
worked with foster children and their biological parents on reunification.
My concentration at MSASS is School Social Work/Children, Youth & Families. This year, I had
a split internship. First semester, I interned at InterAct Cleveland, an interreligious
organization. I was a part of the Partners in Action program, which is an adult mentoring
program that paired members of the Cleveland community with members of InterAct Cleveland's member
congregations for support and guidance.
Second semester, I interned with the Murtis Taylor Multi-Service agency, providing school-based
and outpatient counseling to children under the age of 21.
I hope to use my training with the Early Intervention program to provide services to teenage
parents in a school setting.
