Pattern of Enrollment
The following patterns of enrollment are for incoming students in the current academic year. For
all patterns of enrollment including those for prior academic years please see the MSASS
Registrar's page on
patterns of enrollment.
Program Description
The Intensive Weekend program is designed to provide professional graduate level education to
employed social workers and individuals working in a related capacity to pursue an M.S.S.A. degree
while maintaining full-time employment. Classes meet one weekend per month throughout the calendar
year. Students are required to attend all classes. Students will complete five courses each year
(six during the first year), taking one course at a time. Courses consist of five distinct
components:
- A four-week preparation period that includes readings and a written assignment. Course
materials for this phase are mailed to the student. Students provide evidence of completion of
reading assignments as directed by the course instructor.
- A three-day weekend of classes (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.).
- A four-week study period, during which additional readings and written assignments are
completed.
- A two-day weekend of classes (Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.).
- A final study period of approximately three weeks, during which the final course assignment is
completed and materials for the next course are received.
Note: Students are required to attend eight Fridays and one Thursday the first
year, and five Fridays the second and third years.
