Advanced Standing
Waste no time. Earn a master’s degree in less time through Mandel’s advanced standing program.
The 12-month or 16-month advanced standing MSSA program enables qualified B.S.W. graduates to earn master’s degrees in less time so that they can begin building a successful career more quickly. Students begin the program in the fall semester and complete the program the following summer or fall.

During the fall and spring semesters, students enroll in advanced courses in direct practice or community and social development concentrations and complete advanced field education requirements:
- View 12-month advanced standing master’s degree programs by course and semester
- View 16-month advanced standing master’s degree programs by course and semester
To help you complete your program in just three semesters, Mandel streamlines the choices in curriculum and electives. The typical spring and fall course load includes:
- four courses (12 credit hours)
- field education (3 credit hours)
Courses include advanced socio-behavioral theory, advanced research, advanced methods and advanced policy.
During the final summer or fall semester, students carry 15 credit hours — four courses in addition to the final registration for field education.
