Hi my name is Jeff Neal. I live in Vermillion, Ohio. I'm currently employed as the Director of
Community Programming for the Center for Children and Youth Services in Elyria, Ohio which is a
juvenile mental health facility. I currently hold a master's degree in counseling and I'm looking
at furthering my career. I had several options to go, whether to pursue a Ph.D. program in
psychology, or to select another masters degree in social work.
After a lot of research, I decided to pursue a degree in social work because I thought it was
more marketable and it really fit my lifestyle. It also fit my perspectives on how to deal with
people. So, in choosing a school it was very important for me to find something that would fit into
my hectic schedule, and also challenge me to learn.
I looked at several different options then I chose MSASS because it fit within my full plate.
One of the things that I like about MSASS is that I can come once a month and spend intensive time
studying and then go home, and in my own time, apply what I've learned in the month.
My goals for my career is for me to move up in administration and social work, so my emphasis
here at MSASS will either be management or community development. I haven't made that decision yet,
but, I know that I'll be making that in the weeks to come.
My experience here has been great. It's been very challenging. It's been intense and
supportive.
