Program: Two-Year Full-Time Program Concentration: Community and Social Development Specialization: Youth Preferred Population: Youth |
Why Social Work? There are many ways to use a social work degree. As a social worker specializing in Community and Social Development, I am able to make an impact, though not necessarily on an individual level. |
| Background
Hometown: Akron, Ohio Undergraduate Institution: Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, B.A., Psychology and Spanish (2007) Previous work experience: Bank teller President, Black Student Association (BSA) Favorite thing about Cleveland: The diversity. There is always something to do in Cleveland. Favorite thing about campus: My favorite things about campus is being able to go to all the museums. Urban League of Greater Cleveland, Cleveland, Ohio; City of Cleveland Department of Community Development Current Employment: Social Security Administration Position: Service Representative Nature of the work: Everybody in Social Security says “Social Security is not Social Work,” but it has more connections to social work than people realize. Social Security makes a significant impact in Cleveland – and across the U.S. – by providing benefits that allow survivors, elderly, and disabled individuals the ability to meet their needs. Future plans: Youth and education are important to me. Eventually, I would like to start an organization that will provide supplemental and experiential learning programs for disadvantaged youth. |
